Why You Need a Self Hosted Blog
You want a blog that can evolve into a business, right? Then your blog must be self-hosted.
Blogger, WordPress.com, and other blogging platforms are great when you treat your blog like a journal. But that is not what you want to do.
When you have a self-hosted blog, you also have full control of the content. You can optimize your site whichever way you want, you will be taken seriously as a blogger (www.AwesomeAlice.blogspot.com doesn’t really sound like a serious business), and you can monetize it.
This is not possible on a blogging platform.
The Hosting Service: This is your website’s landlord
WordPress: This is what you use to build your website (Kinda like your apartment)
The Domain Name: This is what other people use to find your website (Your address)
How To Setup Your Blog With Siteground
Step 1: Set Up Your Hosting Account
To get started, go to Siteground and click ”Sign up”
Choose a plan. If you’re a new blogger then I recommend the StartUp plan. When your site starts getting more traffic you can just upgrade your plan.
Next, you need to choose a domain name for your site. If you already own a domain name, you can enter it here. If you don’t have a domain name, you can purchase one from right in the sign-up process!
Once you’ve entered a domain name, you’ll fill in your personal information. And after you clicked ”Pay now” you’ve officially started your new online business. How cool is that!?
It's official! I've just started an online business. Wish me good luck! Klicka för att Tweeta
